Hrithik Roshan set to take home the biggest pay cheque amongst co-stars with a special back-end deal with YRF
The War franchise headlined by Hrithik Roshan is set to return to the big screens with its sequel War 2 on August 14th and the stakes of the project are more ambitious this time around. It is learnt that Superstar Hrithik Roshan has inked a deal with the producers that involves 50 cr upfront payment plus profit sharing. Trade sources predict the total remuneration of the Actor to be in the vicinity upwards of 100 crore.
War (2019) emerged as the highest grossing film of the year and set a box office precedence with the character of Kabir (portrayed by Hrithik Roshan) became a sensation across India upon the film’s release. Nearly 6 years later, Hrithik Roshan is all set to reprise the role of Major Kabir in the 6th film of YRF’s spy universe, War 2.
Interestingly, Hrithik has inked a similar deal for War (2019) and owing to its blockbuster success, the Superstar had walked away with a lion’s share of the profit. Earlier, YRF has offered a similar profit sharing deal to Bollywood’s 3 Khans, in addition to Hrithik.
War 2 also features South Superstar Jr. NTR and is touted as a pan India project. While the film marks the debut of Jr. NTR in the Hindi market, Hrithik Roshan has been an established name and remains celebrated in the South market owing to the blockbuster business of 2006 blockbusters Krrish & Dhoom 2.
YRF is confident that the film will pull in record footfalls in the north and south markets. The teaser and trailer of War 2 have received a positive response from the audience and the film has also inked an exclusive deal to release in IMAX screens globally.
Starring Jr. NTR, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana, in addition to Hrithik Roshan, War 2 is directed by Ayan Mukerji and Produced by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. The film will release worldwide in time for the Independence Day weekend on August 14th in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.
